The world was drastically changing during John Bosco’s life. Society transformed from one based on agriculture into one based on manufacturing. Families flocked to the cities and the education of children suffered greatly. Saint John Bosco dedicated his life to serving children who were missing guidance and structure during this Industrial Revolution.
