The foundation of St. John’s Catholic School, established in 1879, was to teach to the whole child. Teaching across the curriculum is truly only successful when the focus is God. Our Catholic faith is the premise of everything we do at St. John’s. Utilizing STREAM education weaves our Catholic identity into every aspect of the curriculum, and continually honors the dreams of our founding fathers.

STEM vs STEAM vs STREAM

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) is an educational curriculum that combines science, technology, engineering, and math. It is meant to be a comprehensive approach; instead of teaching each subject separately, educators aim to incorporate some or all elements of STEM into each project conducted in the classroom.

STEAM incorporates all the elements of STEM, but adds art to the mix. A STEAM project might include growing a garden and creating seed necklaces. These projects are science-based, but also incorporate artistic expression.
