Valedictorian

The Valedictorian of the graduating class will be the student who is the “top” of the class following the review of the criteria below:

  • Overall cumulative GPA
  • ACT/SAT composite score
  • Strength of schedule (Kansas Regent curriculum versus Kansas Scholars curriculum)
  • Must attend St. John’s Catholic High School full time for at least 2 years (one year being the senior year)
  • Attendance
Salutatorian

The Salutatorian of the graduating class will be the second highest student following the review of the same criteria as the Valedictorian.

Graduation Honor Cords

Graduating seniors may be awarded an honor cord in recognition of the number of service hours given throughout their high school years, as well as their desire to serve others, displayed through attitude, leadership, and overall service record.

  1. The Caritas Cord (the Cord of Charity):  considered for an outstanding number of service hours dedicated over a student’s time in High School at St. John’s Catholic School.
  2. The Veritas Cord (the Cord of Truth):  considered for an outstanding number of hours dedicated to the service of our Lord through Mass, adoration, devotions, corporal and spiritual works of mercy, and missions.
Honor Society

Students eligible for the St. John’s Honor Society must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of a 3.5 cumulative grade point average
  • Achieve an 85% or above on a standardized test
  • Maintain high academic standards with intention to complete the Kansas Scholars Curriculum
  • Maintain the highest standards of character and leadership
  • Participate in service activities
Honor Roll

The high school honor roll recognizes those students who have consistently performed in an outstanding manner. The 2nd Honor Roll recognizes those students who perform above average work in their classes. The 1st Honor Roll recognizes those students who have clearly performed in a superior manner in their classes.

1st Honor Roll Criteria

To be eligible for the 1st Honor Roll, students must attain a cumulative grade point average of 93.5 to 100.

2nd Honor Roll Criteria

To be eligible for the 2nd Honor Roll, students must attain a cumulative grade point average of 88 to 93.4.
